The artist has given the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the MVT, which functions to protect the Britain's small live music spots.

The star was given the cheque on mid-October as his new release People Watching was named the top album of the previous year.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the MVT, in appreciation of the vital role small stages had in his initial steps.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the shows I did around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, top acts such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a modest fee to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also took part, generating in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support thirty-eight small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money assisted locations that were dealing with potential shutdown due to difficulties arising from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and noise complaints.

Additional spaces obtained funding support in improving facilities and gear that helped artists and audiences.

"The concept that money from performances in major spaces helps the local stages, where it all starts for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

Previously, the band donated their prize money to the community center that nurtured their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally winners that year they donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a close contact was identified with the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated artist the singer. "The money was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the cake. So our victory impacted another person's life."

Recently, the trust announced it had saved several local spots in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the second in the city were bought under the public acquisition program, which is backed by the arts council and supporters who purchase "ownership units" in the buildings.
